Fantaisie nocturne

1300 EUR Creation year 2023 Artwork size 75 Width x 58 Height x 1.8 Depth cm This one is very special to me. I wished to create a magical, starry night dreamscape or fantasy. It’s meant to express the wonder and awe I feel when contemplating the night sky on a starry night or a beautiful painting with this motif, such as some of van Gogh’s amazing nocturnes. I used ink and acrylics on wet (most of the time) canvas. There are so many layers and washes in what started out as a very intuitive piece. I got to use a lot of my favourite colours and colour harmonies and fling and sprinkle paint, among other things. You should have seen my hands and the work area… lots of clean up! Later I got extremely absorbed in creating balance. It took me quite a number of sessions spread out over a little more than a week to paint this nocturne.
